Dr RS Bisht assumes charge of MS of GDMC hospital

Senior ENT specialist, Dr RS Bisht took over as the new Medical Superintendent (MS) of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital on Saturday. He succeeds Dr Anurag Agarwal who recently resigned from his position. Immediately after taking the charge, the newly appointed MS took a round of different wings and the wards of the hospital and gave necessary instructions to his subordinates.

Talking to The Pioneer after taking over the reins of the largest government hospital in the State, Dr Bisht said that his first priority will be to ensure smooth availability of the services of the hospital to all the patients. He said that the hospital staff has been directed to strictly adhere to the time guidelines. In emergency the doctors should not take more than an hour to start treatment of the patient. Similarly the sanitation staff has been asked to complete the cleaning work of the hospital before 9 am.

He said that the hospital staff has been asked to interact with the patients in a cordial manner. Dr Bisht added that efforts will be made to increase the number of patients getting treatment under the Ayushman scheme.

A professor in the ENT department Dr Bisht has an experience of working as MS of the Srinagar medical college for a period of two years. In the year 2019-20 he had worked as deputy MS of the GDMC hospital.
