Draw up different SOPs for attacks by elephants, bears and leopards: Nainital High Court

While hearing a public interest litigation on controlling human-wild life conflicts, Nainital High Court’s division bench of the Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal asked the principal secretary forest R K Sudhanshu to ensure that separate standard operation procedures (SOPs) are firmed up for attacks by elephants, bears and leopards. The court asked the State government to form one panel in every district where experts would be present. The court stressed on prompt completion of all the cases pertaining to the victims of the wild animal attacks and asked for the submission of the detailed report by August 17. The court fixed August 17 for the next hearing of the case.
