In latest news from Dehradun, with the ruling BJP and the Opposition parties remaining at loggerheads over the recent Parliament breach incident, the former chief minister and Congress veteran Harish Rawat said that drawing parallel between the intruders and Bhagat Singh, the martyr of the freedom struggle, is unwarranted. He urged the BJP to admit that its MP’s slip had made the Parliament intrusion possible and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi should come to the Parliament to give a statement on the incident. He in post on his social media account wrote that it seemed that the BJP was deliberately connecting this incident with the martyr’s legacy to cover its failure to ensure security of the Parliament. He further said that it was wrong on the part of the BJP to insinuate against TMC or INDIA Bloc in this matter.
Rawat observed silence at his residence for a day on the issues of the State’s farmers. He said that they are not getting any fertiliser other than urea and so they are worried. He further said that the sugarcane growers are a worried lot too, grappling with the damage to their crops wreaked by farmland flood during the monsoon. Taking a dig at the State government, the Congress leader said that it has remained apathetic to the growers of lemons, malta and oranges.
