Drug de-addiction workshop hosted at KU

A workshop on the topic of ‘Mind over Matter’ was organised by Nainital Parents and Children Welfare Association (NPCWA) in the Hermitage of Kumaun University. At the workshop, the speakers spoke on drug de-addiction. Mental health figured prominently in the discussion with special emphasis laid on drug awareness and prevention. The keynote speakers were Garima Kandpal and Harshvardhan Pant. They spoke in detail about the types of drugs, parameters of abuse and short-term and long-term consequences of drug abuse. The joint magistrate Varuna Agrawal shared the lessons of her personal life and the challenges she had faced while reaching her goals. SP City Habans Singh also shared his view of the drug menace. Senior journalist Afzal Hussain Fauji described drug addiction as a dangerous tendency goading the youth to destruction.
The workshop concluded with a painting competition in which children of the age group of 13-16 and 17-21 participated. The topic of the competition was youth empowerment against drug abuse and drug-free society.
