Drug testing conducted in private educational institutions in Doon

Drug testing was carried out on 16 students during a surprise inspection conducted by a joint team of police, administration, and doctors at two private educational institutions in the Selaqui area on Wednesday. The inspection was done as part of the Drug-Free Campus campaign launched in line with the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Drug-Free Devbhoomi 2025 vision, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. he informed that before the inspection, all students had submitted consent forms for drug testing. Police teams used the opportunity to inform students about the effects of drug use and urged them to avoid any form of substance abuse. Students were also made aware of cybercrime risks and preventive measures. He stated that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in drug use or trafficking. Similar surprise inspections are planned at other educational institutions in the district. Substance abuse is increasing among youths across the State. Since Dehradun has several education institutions with thousands of students studying there daily, they become an easy target for drug peddlers to sell drugs among youths. The SSP said that the police keep special vigilance around education institutions and also appealed to students to inform the police about any suspicious person in or around the campus.
