DSCL commences putting up QR codes to improve garbage collection facilities
In order to monitor garbage collection in the city, Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) has commenced to put up QR codes outside the houses of the selected wards. DSCL in association with the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has already completed the work of pasting QR codes outside the houses of the Krishnanagar ward while the work in Ballupur ward is under process.
According to the officials, the DSCL would paste a total of 25,000 QR codes in the houses of the city as a pilot project to increase the efficiency of waste management in Dehradun. All the QR codes will be linked with the Doon Integrated Command and Control Centre (DICCC) that will enable the centre to monitor the movement of garbage collecting vehicles, informed officials. Further, a helpline number is also provided in the QR code through which anyone can complain or give feedback regarding the garbage collection services in an area.
The officials asserted that they expect this initiative to minimise the complaints that mainly include irregular door to door garbage collection service. According to them, all the 25,000 QR codes will be fixed soon in the city. Besides this, training is also being provided to the sanitation teams in order to enable them to operate the device properly for scanning the helpline QR code every day to keep a record of their movement. Meanwhile, the MCD also disclosed that besides improving sanitation facilities, this initiative will also help Dehradun to get some extra points in Swachh Survekshan 2021.
