Following the circulation of a viral video showing the alleged removal of gas cylinders from a sealed godown in Ranjhawala area of Dehradun, the district supply officer KK Agarwal registered a First Information Report against the guilty party on Sunday.
The officials informed that the godown of Nanda Gas Service, located in Ranjhawala, had been sealed on Friday on the orders of Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal, based on a complaint received on December 16, 2024. However, the situation escalated when videos emerged showing cylinders being illegally removed from the godown without breaking the official seal or opening the gates. It was suspected that a truck was positioned outside the godown to facilitate this act. The video evidence reached the DM, sub divisional magistrate and the DSO after which the authorities started an inquiry. According to the officials, preliminary investigations indicate that the act was likely carried out by Lokesh Uniyal, the proprietor of the gas agency.
In response to the seriousness of the allegations, Bansal instructed officials to take strict action against those involved. Following this, the DSO lodged an FIR against the suspected parties. Bansal said that the district administration will take appropriate actions to address such violations and uphold regulations, adding that such breaches will not go unchecked. The investigation is ongoing and the perpetrators will face stringent legal consequences accordingly, he said.
