Dumper hits bus with Raj devotees: woman killed, 38 injured

In a road accident involving devotees from Rajasthan, a woman was killed while 38 others were injured when the bus they were travelling in overturned after it was hit by a dumper truck near Saptarishi area at around 7.15 am on Monday. Police said that the bus was carrying 45 passengers, all from Nagaur district of Rajasthan. The devotees had come to Haridwar for the ‘Purnima’ bathing ritual and the accident occurred near an eatery when they were returning home.
Sharing details, the senior superintendent of police, Navneet Singh said that the rescue teams and local residents had safely pulled out the passengers trapped inside the vehicle. “Those injured included 30 women, six men and two girls. They were rushed to the District Mela Hospital and the Women’s Hospital in Haridwar,” he said, adding that the body of the deceased woman has been kept at the district hospital mortuary.
