Two drug peddlers from Uttar Pradesh were nabbed by the police with about 607 grammes smack valued at Rs 60 lakh here on Tuesday. The Nainital senior superintendent of police Pankaj Bhatt informed that the police and special operations group (SOG) were conducting vehicle checks on Monday night when they came across the contraband being smuggled on a scooty by two men at the old Subhashnagar barrier.
During questioning the two identified themselves as Sajid (34) and Dilshad (20) both residents of Bareilly district in neighbouring UP. The police recovered 327 grammes from Sajid and 280 grammes from Dilshad. They further said that they prepare the smack themselves and sell the contraband for hefty profit in Haldwani, Lalkuan and places around Nainital. The police have booked the duo under NDPS Act and are looking into their past criminal record.
