Dynamics of modern warfare changing rapidly: Lt Gen Kumar

Sunday, 09 JUNE 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Northern Command of the Indian Army, lieutenant general MC Suchindra Kumar said that the dynamics of combat are changing rapidly and technological transformation has been impacting the character of modern wars.  Addressing the passing out contingent at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) here as the reviewing officer of the Passing out Parade (PoP)  on Saturday Kumar said that the use of space, cyber and cognitive domains in warfare are contemporary realities. He said that the information warfare, drones, autonomous systems, exploitation of EM spectrum and man-machine teaming comprise the new normal now. “In fact, all these domains are being refined with every passing day with the use of disruptive technologies, thereby increasing the complexities of wars. Today’s wars are wars of ideas, intellect and innovation. Be prepared to be at the forefront to meet these challenges. Also remember the adage that it is the man behind the machine who matters the most. Physical fitness, mental agility, critical thinking, technical prowess and a swift response to fluid situations will be the key to your success,’’ he  said.

He added that the Indian Army is proud to have the best soldiers in the world, who have the wisdom derived from combat and years of operational experience. “When you join the units, they will judge you for courage, integrity, honesty and character. You must exhibit humility and live up to their expectations,’’ the GoC-in-C told the young officers.
