Doctors in Dehradun have advised individuals to take early precautions as the winter season approaches to avoid viral and upper respiratory infections. The temperature change as winter approaches has already begun in the State, leading to an increase in cases of upper respiratory illnesses. Experts are recommending necessary precautions to prevent viral infections in the upcoming days.
A senior physician at the CMI Hospital Dr Anshika Jain said that the recent temperature fluctuations have led to an increase in viral infections. With winter approaching, the change in season may result in upper respiratory ailments among individuals. This could lead to symptoms such as cold, cough, and fever. To prevent this, it is important for individuals to take early precautions. They should wear warm clothing, avoid consuming meals from outside, and opt for normal water instead of refrigerated water. Additionally, with the change in weather, it is advisable to avoid using air conditioning, as it may contribute to upper respiratory issues, she added.
Further, a paediatrician Dr Apoorava Jain has also emphasised the early precautions for children due to the approaching winter season. He added that, up until now, cases of waterborne diseases, stomach infections and diarrhoea were common. However, with the transition from summer to winter, it is expected that cases of cough and fever will increase. To prevent this, parents must ensure that their children wear full-sleeved clothes, avoid drinking cold water and eat homemade food. Additionally, if any child is suffering from cold and cough, parents should not send them to school to prevent the spread of the ailment to other children. Adhering to these precautions will help prevent children from such ailments, he added.
