Nature Science Initiative (NSI) and Wipro Foundation jointly organised an event to confer the awards for the Earthian Competition to the winning schools. Wipro Earthian is India’s largest sustainability education programme that NSI coordinates for Dehradun, Haridwar and other districts of Uttarakhand.
The Earthian Regional Awards for the academic year 2022-23 were bagged by Colonel Brown Cambridge School, Sunrise Academy and Hopetown Girls’ School. Over 20 schools took part in this Earth Day event. The chief guest principal chief conservator of forests Rajiv Bhartari commended the efforts of the teachers in bringing in sustainability education, a critical need of the hour.
PCCF, Planning, Dhananjai Mohan gave a talk on birds and birding in Uttarakhand to the school students. Students and teachers of Colonel Brown School demonstrated the extensive leaf composting done on their school campus to the visiting schools and dignitaries.
