Two days after the announcement of poll dates, the Election Commission (EC) has ordered removal of the home secretary of Uttarakhand. Along with this, the EC issued order for removing home secretaries of five other States-Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh. Notably, Uttarakhand will go to polls on April 19 and the IAS Shailesh Bagauli is the incumbent secretary home in Uttarakhand.
This aside, EC ordered immediate removal of the director general of police of West Bengal. The secretaries of general administration of Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh are also being removed on EC’s direction.
