The election commissioner of India Anup Chandra Pandey arrived in Badrinath Dham on Friday to offer his prayers. The chief electoral officer V Shanmugam was also present with him. The vice president of the temple committee Kishore Panwar and other members welcomed him with a shawl and Tulsi garland. During the visit, Pandey also took information from the Chamoli District Magistrate and District Election Officer Himanshu Khurrana about the registered voters in the district, polling places and preparations for the elections among others. He also emphasised on raising awareness among youth about the re-verification program and ensuring names of 100 per cent eligible people are registered in the voter list. Besides this, the former chief minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray along with his wife Rashmi Thackeray also visited Badrinath Dham after visiting Kedarnath the same day. Nepal’s ambassador to India Shankar Prasad Sharma also visited Badrinath temple after Shri Kedarnath at 11 am on Friday. Besides this, Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam Board member Saurabh Bora and Trimbakeshwar Temple Trustee Kailash Ghule also reached Kedarnath and Badrinath to offer their prayers
