Economic survey presents rosy picture of Uttarakhand’s economy

The economic survey 2024-25 conducted by the State Planning department ahead of the budget session of Vidhan Sabha presents a healthy picture of the economy of Uttarakhand. Listing out important findings of the survey, the principal secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said that the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of the State is expected to be Rs 3,78,240 crore in 2024-25 which is 13.54 per cent more than Rs 3,32,000 crore in the year 2023-24.

He said that the GSDP at constant price (2011-12 base) is expected to be Rs 2,17,000 crore for 2024-25 which is 6.61 per cent higher than last year. Sundaram added that the national GDP grew by 6.40 per cent this year which means that the State’s performance is higher than the national average. In response to a query, the Principal Secretary stated that the massive exercise of holding the general elections in the year 2024 and accompanying imposition of the model code of conduct had its effect on the economy. 

The survey shows that the per capita income (PCI) in Uttarakhand increased to Rs 2,74,064 in 2024-25 from Rs 2,46,178 in the year 2023-24 which is a healthy 11.33 per cent increase in a period of one year. Sundaram said that as the data given by the Statistics and Programme Implementation ministry of government of India, the PCI of the country in the year 2024-25 is estimated at Rs 2,00,016 which shows an increase of 8.7 per cent over Rs 1,84,025 calculated for the year 2023-24.

Uttarakhand follows Centre in presenting survey findings

DEHRADUN: In a deviation from the norm when the findings of the Economic survey is tabled along with the budget in Vidhan Sabha, the Uttarakhand government released the key features of the survey just ahead of the budget session of Vidhan Sabha commencing from February 18 in Dehradun. The principal secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram said that the State is trying to follow the Union government in this respect which presents the findings of the economic survey, ahead of the union budget.
