On the call given by the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the Uttarakhand Congress would stage a protest outside the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here on Thursday. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara would lead the protest. The party would also hold protests at all the district headquarters against what it terms misuse of central agencies such as ED to harass Congress leaders.
The PCC president Mahara participated in a meeting with the office bearers of the party and held telephonic conversation with party leaders to devise the strategy for the protest on Wednesday.
The general secretary organisation of state Congress, Vijay Saraswat said that in an effort to hide its failures the Modi government is trying to harass the leaders of Congress party and other opposition leaders by implicating them in false cases. He said that on the signal given by the Modi government the ED is engaging in a coercive action on Congress president Sonia Gandhi but the Congress workers would not tolerate it. He said that the Congress leaders and workers would hold a massive protest at the office of ED located at Cross road in Dehradun at 10 am on Thursday.
