Edu dept to arrange online lectures of best teachers

The minister has directed the officers to develop a hybrid system of teaching consisting of both the online and offline mode.

The education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that a help system would be developed by the education department for providing lectures of best teachers in an online mode for the students of the state.

The statement of the minister assumes significance because under the New Education Policy (NEP)-2022 the students are free to choose the online courses and material. The minister has also directed the officers of the department to develop a hybrid system of teaching consisting of both the online and offline mode.

The minister took a meeting of the state level task force constituted under the NEP-2021 at the state secretariat on Monday. He said that best lectures should be selected and they should be asked to teach the students in online mode. Rawat said that under the NEP, Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) would be implemented in the state. Under this the students are given a freedom to drop some subjects and opt for the  subjects of their choice from another stream. He directed the officers of the department to develop a help system which would assist the students in selecting the courses and material in online mode.

The minister said that the vacant posts of headmasters and principals should be filled for proper implementation of NEP. He added the system of forgo in the promotion is also needed to be reviewed so that the promotion posts are not vacant.

The chief secretary S S Sandhu said that the state task force should study all aspects of the NEP so that it is implemented in a proper manner. He said that the old system of education in the state should be changed with the inclusion of new technology for improving the quality of education. The higher education secretary Shailash Bagoli, Secretary Secondary education Ravinath Raman, advisor RUSA MSM Rawat and others were present in the meeting.
