Acting on the orders of the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat, the School education department of the State has issued a directive to the chief education officers of all the districts that the teachers who have appealed against their transfers should not be relieved. The order is likely to benefit about 1000 teachers who were transferred recently.
The teacher organisations had requested the minister to intervene on the complaints of irregularities in the transfer of teachers following which he ordered the department that the teachers who have appealed against their transfers should not be relieved. The directive assumes significance since a clause of immediate and sometimes unilateral relieving is attached with the transfer order. After getting relieved the employee has no option but to join at the new place of posting. In the recent transfers many teachers have complained that they were transferred to places which they had not mentioned in the options taken by the department from them.
The minister has also directed the officers of the department to dispose of all the appeals of the teachers regarding transfers within a week. After much deliberation, the education department transferred 4400 teachers recently. Large number of teachers complained that norms were not followed in the transfers.
