Education department to merge low enrollment girls schools with GICs

The State government has decided to merge such Government Inter College (GIC) and Government Girls Inter College (GGIC) where the student enrolment is less. A decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the officers of the Education department chaired by the minister Dhan Singh Rawat on Friday. The minister said that the proposals for merger of many GICs and GGICs from different districts have been received by the department. He said that GICs and GGICs with less student enrollment will be merged. Rawat added that the opinion of the teachers will also be taken on the issue of merger of the cadre of the teachers of the GICs and GGICs.

 The minister also directed that the service regulations of the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) should be revised and made as per the standards of the government of India. On a stern note the minister directed that the teachers deployed in the DIETs should be sent back to their original schools so that the studies are not affected there. Rawat directed that the textbooks should be dispatched to the schools before the start of the new academic session and said that the officers should prepare a plan for this. The plan of distribution of the textbooks should also be monitored properly.

In the meeting the minister also gave orders for strengthening facilities in the primary, upper primary and middle schools. He said that vocational courses should commence in 100 schools and ordered that smart and virtual classes should start without delay in the schools.

 The meeting was attended by Education secretary Ravinath Raman, director general of Education Banshidhar Tiwari, additional secretary Ranjana Rajguru, director of Primary Education RK Uniyal and others.
