Following the directions of the Dehradun district magistrate Savin Bansal, the Education department has asked all government schools in the district to improve their infrastructural facilities for the benefit of students. The chief education officer Pradeep Rawat said this while adding that in a recent meeting with the DM, Bansal instructed the Education department to enhance infrastructure and other facilities for students in government schools. Acting on the instruction, the Education department organised a meeting with relevant officials to discuss and establish guidelines for the schools. Consequently, the government schools in Dehradun have been instructed to upgrade their infrastructure, including outfitting classrooms with whiteboards and LED screens for virtual learning. In addition, classrooms should display educational and aesthetically pleasing artwork to enhance the learning environment. Renovations including updated swings and outdoor sports facilities are also recommended, he added.
He further informed that funding has been provided to schools through the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan programme, with additional support available from the district planning fund if needed. The DM has said that any financial gaps in the allotted funds will be addressed. He said that it has been directed that the schools should comply with these instructions by November 15.
It will be recalled that recently, the DM held a meeting with the Education department, during which he instructed the relevant officials to enhance the infrastructure at the school for children. He stressed the importance of ensuring that no child is seated on the floor in schools and that outdated chalkboards are replaced with digital screens. Each classroom should be furnished with a minimum of two LED bulbs to guarantee adequate lighting. Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of upgrading school libraries with newspapers, magazines, dictionaries, biographies of prominent individuals and various other amenities to promote reading and expand students’ knowledge base.
