Education dept proposes to open schools for all students from April 15
The schools are still closed for students of classes I to V
The education department of Uttarakhand is planning to start the next academic session from April 15. The department has submitted its proposal regarding the new academic session and opening of the primary schools of the state to the state government for approval. In the recent meeting of the officials of the education department chaired by education minister Arvind Pandey detailed discussions on the opening of the schools and new academic session were held. It was also decided that the primary schools (class I to V) which are closed from last one year should now be opened. The education director R K Kunwar told The Pioneer that the final decision on primary schools would be taken by the government. He said that the schools of the classes VI onwards are open and all precautions are being taken to prevent infection of Covid-19 from spreading.
The schools in Uttarakhand were closed in the last week of March 2020 when the pandemic of Covid-19 started in the state. The education department opened the schools for students of class X and XII were opened in the month of November last year while the students of classes VI, VII, VII, IX and XI were opened on February 8.
