Education Dept to give interim promotion to teachers

In a move aimed at removing the discrepancies due to disputes over seniority, the Education department has decided to give the benefit of interim promotions to the teachers.

Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat gave an order in this regard while chairing a review meeting of the department at his office in Vidhan Sabha on Thursday. In the meeting he held elaborate discussions with the officers on the issue of the promotion of teachers. He said that the intention of the government is to give the benefit of promotion to all the eligible teachers but  the issue of seniority of teachers is pending in the court.

He said that the government has now decided to give interim promotion to the teachers till the final senior list is prepared after the court’s order.  In the meeting the minister directed the officers of the department to take necessary legal opinion on the issue and submit concrete and factual reply in the court.  He said that in absence of promotion the teaching and evaluation activities are getting adversely affected due to which the students are facing problems.

In the meeting the minister directed that the process of transfer of teachers suffering from incurable diseases and the applications under section 27 of the Transfer act should be expedited.

 The meeting was attended by Education secretary Ravinath Raman, Legal secretary Prashant Joshi, additional secretary LM Rayal, Education director general Dipti Singh and other officers.
