Education Dept to set up 100 cluster schools this year

Moving ahead on its plan of merging the schools having less student enrollment into cluster schools, the Education department has approved the plan to make 21 government inter colleges (GICs) cluster schools. A sum of Rs 24 crore has been released for these schools. The department has prepared a plan to set up 100 cluster schools in the current financial year.
The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that as per the provisions of National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 and with an objective of improving the quality of education the State government has decided to merge schools with less enrolment into cluster schools.
He said that in the current financial year the department has proposed to set up 100 cluster schools. In the first phase the government has approved the plan to set up 21 GIC as cluster schools in Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Tehri and Pithoragarh districts. The minister added that three cluster schools each will be set up in Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts while four cluster schools each will be set up in Dehradun and Tehri and seven in Pithoragarh district.
