Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that efforts are being undertaken by the State government to achieve the desired level of development while also retaining the identity of Uttarakhand. He said this while speaking at a conclave organised by a news channel on Sunday.
Dhami said that integrated development of Uttarakhand is a top priority of the government. Officials have been handed over responsibility and made answerable for this purpose. Clear instructions have been issued to officials to swiftly implement decisions related to public welfare schemes, he said.
He said, “Uttarakhand is a State with a heritage of religion, spiritualism and rich culture. Efforts are being undertaken to retain the basic identity of the State. Religious conversion and encroachment on government lands will not be tolerated under any circumstance. The campaign to free government lands of encroachment will continue. So far about 2,700 hectare land has been cleared of encroachments,” he said referring to the demolition of illegally constructed religious structures and other encroachments. He further said that the expert committee on Uniform Civil Code has nearly completed its task and the UCC draft is expected to be prepared by June 30. After the committee’s report is received, the government will consult legal experts and intelligentsia in addition to studying the report while working in the direction of implementing it, said Dhami.
The CM stressed that all citizens are being provided the benefits of government schemes without any appeasement. Every moment of the government is dedicated to facilitating integrated development of the State with efforts underway to develop Uttarakhand into one of the best States by 2025.
He further said that the government is committed to ensuring completion of all the development projects approved by the Centre for Uttarakhand under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance. Dhami said, “The State will soon be hosting a global investors summit. The government is focusing on increasing investment, increasing its financial resources and creating a better atmosphere for industries for which a land bank has been created and a single window system has been put in place. The peaceful atmosphere in Uttarakhand is very conducive for industries. We are also working hard to take the State forward from the leader category to achiever category. We are working to encourage self employment after preparing new policies for tourism, industry, agriculture and other important departments.”
The CM further said that PM Modi has special affection for Uttarakhand. Work has been done at a swift pace in all sectors in Uttarakhand under PM Modi’s leadership during the past nine years. Work is progressing swiftly on the Char Dham all weather road project, Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project, Kedarnath reconstruction project and the Badrinath master plan.
Regarding the coming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the CM expressed confidence that the people of Uttarakhand will once again elect BJP candidates from all the five parliamentary constituencies like they did in the previous parliamentary election, adding that Modi will once again serve as the nation’s PM.
