Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Adha in the State with religious fervour on Monday. Men from the Muslim community assembled in mosques across the State in the morning to offer Namaz. The festival was held peacefully amidst strict security arrangements made by the police. Many also ritually sacrificed animals as part of their tradition.
Notably, Eid-ul-Adha is observed on the 10th day of the Islamic month Dhul Hijjah.
Local resident Shadabh Qazi stated that it is a significant day for the Muslim community. In the early morning, he went to the city mosque to offer Namaz and then performed ‘Qurbani’ as per their tradition. His family also prepared traditional meals to celebrate the day, he said.
Another local resident Reshma Khan said, “Eid ul-Adha is a day of celebration for us. We usually wear new clothes and prepare delicious food to make this celebration memorable. We started preparing to celebrate the occasion 15 days in advance.”
