Eight face action for violating videography ban in Gangotri
Tuesday, 28 MAY 2024 | PNS | UTTARKASHI
Action was taken under the Police Act against eight persons for making reels within 50 metres of the Gangotri temple and taking photographs in the Garbh Grah of the temple on Monday. The mobile phones of the persons in question were held for some time and returned to them after they paid obeisance to the deities and they were let off with a warning. This action comes after the recent ban imposed by the State government on videography and making reels within 50 metres of the Char Dham shrines.
Following the ban imposed by the government, the Uttarkashi police has been monitoring people at and near the temple to ensure that none of them indulge in the prohibited activities which cause inconvenience to other pilgrims. The visitors are also being requested by loudspeaker and other means to desist from videography and making reels within 50 metres of the temple.
