Elderly people opine pursuing passion key to stay healthy

Pursuing a passion keeps the body and mind in their best condition as per the participants of the 18th National Athletic Championship recently organised in Parade Ground, Dehradun. The championship was organised in the memory of the former queen of Alwar Yuvarani Mahendrakumari. Around 700 people from different states participated in the event.
Following a passion is the best key to staying healthy at the age of 80, stated a participant Gauravmaa Snehgulia Hooda, a resident of Haryana. She further stated that she is more than 80 years old and still has the energy to run in the championship like a young adult. She further stated that she has been in the athletic field for the past 10 years. She said that she had won many laurels in athletic competitions. “Still, I long to win more in the future.
Despite the fact that I am a heart patient, I want to carry on with my passion for athletics till I breathe my last,” she said. Another senior participant Darshana Devi said, “I have been participating in athletic competitions at the national, state and international levels since 2017. This is my passion and this is what provides me with energy to live on. I have won 32 medals so far and aspire for more.”
