In latest news from Uttarakhand, an elderly woman was killed when she was heading in her son’s car to Ramnagar for treatment. Her son was seriously injured, too. Police said that Vinay Verma, a resident of Almora, was taking his mother Uma Verma (71) in his car to Ramnagar to have her checked up medically. When his car reached Jokhia a tourist bus came too near it. Vinay lost control on his car while trying to avert a collision and the car crashed into a 50-meter-deep gorge.
A police team from Tallital rushed to the spot. The mother-son duo was rescued out of the mangled car. Uma Devi was sent to B D Pandey Hospital where she was declared dead.
