Electricity tariff to increase & decrease on basis of FPPCA

Thursday, 17 AUGUST 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

In latest news from Dehradun, the electricity tariffs for consumers will now increase and decrease after Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) has approved the Fuel and Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (FPPCA). With the implementation of this new rule, the quarterly Fuel Charge Adjustment (FCA) will no longer be applicable. It is learnt that the UERC has finalised this new measure after public hearing on FPPCA was held.  Under this regulation, the effect of rise and fall in per unit cost of the electricity consumed will get reflected in the bills.  Speaking on this matter, secretary, UERC Neeraj Sati said that the power purchased by UPCL in a month will be recovered through the consumer bills on monthly basis. If the electricity tariff rises in June the additional amount would be added in the bill of August and it will be recovered in September. Another senior officer, UERC said that UPCL will review this recovery process every quarter.
