An elephant calf which was being treated in the Kalagarh range of Corbett tiger reserve after being rescued succumbed to injuries early on Monday morning. The two-month-old male calf was injured in an attack by a tiger on October 31. The pachyderm was injured in a forelimb and the shoulder joint. Officials said that the calf died at 4 AM on Monday. The autopsy of the calf was carried out and samples of its viscera and organs was sent to Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly.
