Employee associations welcome Modi cabinet’s decision on pay commission

 The employee organisations of the State have welcomed the decision of the Union cabinet to approve the 8th pay commission for the employees. The employees of the State government have expressed hope that the Uttarakhand government will also give the benefit from the new pay commission to its employees. The president of the State employees’ joint federation Arun Pandey said that the union government should change the income tax slabs and increase the limit of deductions to save tax. He said if change in income tax rates is not done then a major portion of the increased income of the employees will be deducted as tax.  Pandey said that the new pay commission should pay special attention to protecting the interests of the employees.

The general secretary of IRDE employees association, Hemant Kumar said that the association had been demanding a new pay commission for the last two years. Appreciating the decision of the cabinet he expressed hope that the union government will also heed the demand of the employees on restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS) as well. 

The president of the Uttaranchal federation of ministerial services association, Purnanand Nautiyal said that the pay committee constituted by the government should also hold interaction with the employee association. He said that the government should also ensure that the committee submits its report in a time bound manner.
