The employee associations of the State and the IAS association have strongly condemned the alleged misbehaviour by the president of Uttarakhand Berozgar Sangh (UBS) Bobby Panwar with the senior IAS officer R Meenakshi Sundaram and members of his staff inside the secretariat. Meanwhile, responding to the request for action by the Uttarakhand IAS association, chief secretary Radha Raturi directed officials concerned to review the security system in the secretariat and take necessary measures to prevent repetition of such incidents.
The state spokesman of the State employees’ joint federation, RP Joshi said that there is a proper way of interacting with the officers and employees in any office and in case of difference of opinion, the discontentment if any, can be expressed in a peaceful manner. He said that misbehaviour with the officers and employees is not proper and unacceptable as it will create an atmosphere of anarchy in the State. Joshi added that the federation demands a high level inquiry in the incident and legal action against the culprits.
The Uttarakhand secretariat association convened a meeting on the issue on Thursday. The senior personal secretary Kapil Kumar and additional personal secretary Anoop Kumar narrated the incident which happened inside the office of secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram on Wednesday evening. The duo claimed that apart from manhandling, Bobby Panwar and two of his accomplices threatened them of dire consequences. The association then passed a motion of condemnation and demanded strict action against the culprits. A delegation of the Uttarakhand IAS association met chief secretary Radha Raturi and sought action against Panwar and his supporters.
Former president of the secretariat association Joshi said that the incident is unfortunate and has created a sense of insecurity among the employees of the secretariat. He demanded that Panwar should be arrested and people like him should not be allowed to enter the State secretariat.
