Employees association accuses institute acting director of various irregularities

Members seek inquiry into actions of acting director of GB Pant institute at Ghurdori

The joint employees association of GB Pant institute of engineering and technology at Ghurdori have accused the acting director of the institute of various irregularities. The association president Bharat Singh Negi recently submitted a  memorandum to chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the alleged illegal appointment of non teaching staff to unsanctioned posts and the financial irregularities by the acting director Y Singh. The association has sought that Singh be removed from the post and that a high level inquiry be ordered into the matter. The memorandum was also submitted to the Technical Education minister and the departmental secretary by the association president.

Negi alleged in the memorandum that Y Singh as acting director in the year 2016, had given charge of assistant registrar to RS Negi and charge of registrar to Anil Gautam wrongfully.  The State government took the cognisance of the allegation of financial irregularities and other allegations. An inquiry was conducted against Singh and the inquiry officer found Singh guilty. On this ground he was removed from the post of director and Pauri district magistrate was given charge of acting director by the government. Negi said that despite this Singh had been given the responsibility of acting director of the institute on September 24, 2021.Negi questioned as to how come Singh could be appointed to the position despite the findings of the inquiry.

He further said that the post of full time director of the institute has been vacant since 2018. During this period, advertisement was published four times for the post of director. Negi further said that after two months of assuming  charge as acting  director in September 2021 Y Singh had made appointments and promoted 13 teachers, which was found to be against the norms of AICTE and State government by the three member committee set up by government.

Negi alleged that in the 28th , 29th , 30th  and 31st  meetings of the board of governors, acting director Singh had concealed facts and misled the head of the board of governors- Technical Education  minister and the vice chairman- Technical Education secretary. The joint employees association has demanded that an inquiry should be held into the allegations.
