Employees unhappy with Union budget 2024-25 provisions

The employee organisations have expressed disappointment at the Union budget tabled by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the parliament on Tuesday. The president of the State employees’ joint federation, Arun Pandey said that the employees were hoping to get relief in income tax provisions in the Union budget but they were disappointed by the provisions proposed by the finance minister. He said that the employees were hoping that the standard deduction will be raised at least to Rs 1.50 lakh but only an  increase of Rs 25,000 was done by the Finance minister. Pandey added that similarly it was believed that the limit of no tax would be increased to Rs 10 lakh  but it was not done.

The patron of Uttaranchal Pravateeya Karmchari Shikshak Sanghathan  Pancham Singh Bisht said that the employees were hoping to get tax relief and release of dearness allowance (DA) pending from 18  months but they were disappointed. Similarly there was no mention of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and the constitution of the eighth pay commission in  the budget.
