Ensure effective action to tackle Covid surge- CM

Chairing a meeting to review the Covid situation in the state on Saturday, chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat directed that strict action be taken against those involved in black marketing Covid medicines. Stating that there should be no lenience in such cases, the CM said that once a decision is taken in a meeting, its implementation should be ensured. He also directed officials to plan for the next 15 days regarding Covid. Referring to the vaccination campaign to be undertaken for those aged above 18 years from May 1, Rawat directed that proper arrangements should be made for this. Considering Covid protocol, vaccination should be arranged at the camp approach. The campaign has to cover industrial estates, colleges and the village level too. Further, sanitisation should also be undertaken in Gram Panchayats as it is being undertaken in urban local bodies, said the CM. Stressing on proper checks of those coming from outside the state, Rawat said that entry should be allowed only with RT-PCR negative report. Reiterating on the registration of returning natives, he said that they should be sent directly to their homes where they should be kept in home isolation. The help of Gram Pradhans should be taken to ensure that they remain in home isolation.

Directing officials to plan for the next 15 days, he said that oxygen, ICU, necessary medicines and other items should be ensured on the basis of such planning. Stressing on the need for maximum focus on oxygen supply chain management, he also directed widespread public awareness measures. He said that there should be efficient central control room from where people can be informed about the availability of beds in hospitals. Special focus should be laid on the arrangements in government Doon medical college hospital, he said.

State minister for Disaster Management, Dhan Singh Rawat, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, director general of police Ashoki Kumar, health secretary Amit Singh Negi and other officials were also present in the meeting.
