Officials should maintain regular communication with public representatives and top priority should be accorded to works related to the people, to enable direct benefit to the public. Chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat said this while chairing a video conference with district magistrates on Sunday after participating in a hawan in the morning prior to commencing work from the CM office at the secretariat.
The CM directed that multipurpose camps be held, adding that effective execution of such camps should be ensured so that the people actually benefit and have their grievances resolved. The idea of government at the doorsteps of people should be achieved in action, he said. Rawat said that in view of the coming summer season, officials should ensure that there is no drinking water problem. Alternative arrangements should be made if needed. Stressing that education is a top priority for the government, he directed officials to ensure that drinking water, toilets, furniture, electricity and other facilities are present in all schools within the next six months. Reiterating on the need for effective execution of e-governance, he said that the people should actually benefit from it. The citizens should not get hassled for minor services. The CM said that the government and state administration should be informed without fail in case there is any important incident in the district. Effective management should be ensured to tackle forest fires in the coming days. Further, regular monitoring of forest clearance cases should also be done. Concrete arrangements should be ensured considering the coming Char Dham Yatra and tourist season. Rawat also sought information from the district magistrates about progress in MNREGA and self employment schemes. He also directed that the procedure be started immediately for withdrawing cases lodged against people for violating guidelines during the Covid-19 lockdown. The CM also sought information from the Chamoli district magistrate about the status of connectivity to the disaster affected villages. Chief secretary Om Prakash, the commissioners of Garhwal and Kumaon, secretary to the CM, Shailesh Bagauli were present in the meeting along with all the district magistrates and senior superintendents of police.
