Ensure timely action on points from chief secretaries conference: Sandhu

Chief secretary SS Sandhu has directed officials of the Health department and Skill Development department to ensure action on points decided in the second national conference of chief secretaries and to prepare a timeline for the same. He issued this direction while chairing a meeting with departmental officials to review implementation of the points decided in the chief secretaries’ conference.

Sandhu said that practical steps should be taken to make the Poshan mission successful. He said that the use of technology should be maximised in the various programmes undertaken by the department. Instead of various mobile phone applications for different programmes, all the apps should be integrated to prepare one application. He said that the Health department should prepare an informational video and exhibit in all hospitals to make women aware of important aspects of the pre and post natal periods. Arrangements should also be made to prepare brief videos and exhibit them to raise awareness on various diseases and means of protection from them.

Sandhu directed officials of the Skill Development department to facilitate training through industries to students of Industrial Training Institutes. A scheme should be prepared to send all ITI students for a month-long training in the industry. The department should enter into agreements with various industrial enterprises for this purpose, he said, while adding that the department should facilitate accommodation for the students during this time period. He stressed that more than 50 to 60 per cent training of the students should be done through industries. Stating that there are considerable possibilities in the sphere of drones, he said that various training programmes on drones should also be conducted. Portal based monitoring of all the programmes should also be ensured, said Sandhu.

Secretaries R Rajesh Kumar and Vijay Kumar Yadav along with other officials were also present in the meeting.
