Every minute important, affected families should be shifted immediately: CS 

U’khand Govt to provide choppers for experts sent to Joshimath

The Uttarakhand government has decided to provide helicopters for fast transportation of the experts to the affected areas in Joshimath city grappling with the problem of land subsidence.

The chief secretary Sukhbir Singh Sandhu gave the order to the senior officers while chairing a meeting of the officers at the State secretariat on Monday. In the meeting the situation of the Joshimath city was discussed. Singh also directed that the manpower should be increased to expedite the operations. The CS said that in view of the land subsidence every minute is important and people residing in the affected areas should be shifted out any delay. The CS said that arrangements of drinking water and other facilities should be made in the places where the evacuated families would be kept. He said that the Peyajal department has been directed to repair pipelines and sewers. Orders have been given for maintenance and repair of the electricity lines. He said that constant vigil should be made to ensure that the damage to life and property does not take place in view of increased land subsidence.

 The CS directed that the work to prevent the toe erosion by the river should start today itself and the dilapidated buildings should be immediately dismantled to reduce the chances of more damage by them. The meeting was also attended by Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Secretaries Nitesh Jha and Ranjit Sinha and others.
