The former President of India, Ram Nath Kovind will arrive here on a three-day tour of Uttarakhand on Friday. He will stay in the Raj Bhawan in Dehradun during his tour. On April 15 and 16, the former President will participate in various programmes at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie. The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh will be present with him during these events.
Earlier, on Friday, Kovind will garland a statue of BR Ambedkar in Garhi cantonment. It will be recalled that during his visit to Dehradun as the President in December 2021, Kovind had garlanded this statue and had mentioned to his staff about the statue being small in size. Taking serious cognisance of this observation, governor Singh requested the cantonment board CEO to renovate the statue. The dimensions of the statue were increased and it was renovated to improve its appearance.
