A few days after the Congress announced the lists of the party candidates for the mayoral posts and the councillors’ seats for the upcoming civic body elections slated on January 23, the former national spokesperson of the Youth Congress Aarushi Sundriyal raised a flag of revolt against the State party leadership while declaring she would stake her claim for the mayoral post for Dehradun Municipal Corporation.
Upping her ante against the State party unit, she said that the party brass even did not blink after a murderous attempt had been made on her and her home burgled. “This reflects the insecurity the women of the State feel. I struggled hard for five days even to file an FIR at Dalanwala police station. As Police kept sitting on my complaint, I had the case transferred at Nehru Colony police station,” she said.
