Excessive dieting and workout without expert guidance can prove to be harmful. Many people believe that the more they diet and exercise, the quicker they will lose weight. However, experts point out that maintaining a balance between diet and exercise is crucial for achieving good health and fitness. Exercising is definitely good for health, but doing it in excess can be harmful. Sometimes excessive dieting and workout lead to many health issues including heart stroke, the experts said.

Commenting on the ill-effects of excessive dieting and workout gym trainer Sonu Chaudhary said, “It is becoming increasingly common for people to engage in excessive dieting and intense workouts in order to maintain their physical fitness. However, I advise all fitness enthusiasts to avoid such practices as they can be quite dangerous. Excessive dieting and workouts can lead to nutritional deficiencies, feeling of fatigue, insomnia, heart attacks and hormonal imbalances.”

Chaudhary further added that individuals should tailor their diet and exercise routines based on their current fitness levels, which includes incorporating fitness and mobility drills. Additionally, it is important to prioritise rest and recovery in order to maintain overall fitness in combination with diet and exercise, he added.

Another gym trainer Ritesh Singh Bisht said that a rising number of individuals are now fitness freaks and think of getting fit at the initial stage. Due to this, they start doing excessive dieting and workout, which sometimes leads to very dangerous results for them. Excessive dieting and workout can lead to muscle injury, stomach infection and many other health issues. One should make sure to keep a healthy balance of dieting and workout in their life, he opined.

Dietician Renu Jain told this correspondent, “It’s important to maintain balance in all aspects of life, including fitness. I recommend that everyone strive for moderation when it comes to staying fit. These days, people often lean towards extreme dieting and intense workouts in an effort to achieve their fitness goals. However, excessive exercise can actually damage the body’s tissues, while extreme dieting can lead to many health issues, such as heart attacks, depression, low immunity and nutritional deficiencies.”

She further said that excessive dieting and workout will never lead to good results. Instead, it’s important to strike a balance between rest and physical activity to achieve optimal fitness levels, she added.
