Excise dept to undertake drive against overrating of liquor

 Acting on the complaints of overrating in the liquor shops and sale of sealed liquor bottles in the bars of the State, the State Excise department has launched a three day checking drive. The drive will commence on May 01.

The Excise commissioner, HC Semwal said that the department has constituted four teams which will undertake an extensive drive in all the districts of the State against overrating. He said that additional commissioner headquarters RS Chauhan will head the team which will inspect the shops and bars in Dehradun, Haridwar and Tehri districts.

Similarly the assistant commissioner Devendra Giri Goswami will lead the team for Pauri, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts, district excise officer Udham Singh Nagar Nathuram Joshi will lead the team which will inspect shops in Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital and Champawat districts while assistant commissioner Prashant Kumar will head the team for Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.
