Exhibition on Quran in the mirror of calligraphic art begins in Doon

The 20th “Holy Quran in the Mirror of Calligraphic Art” exhibition was inaugurated at the Tasmia auditorium here on Saturday. Justice Mehboob Ali inaugurated the exhibition along with pastor JP Singh, brigadier (retd) KG Behl, Australian singer Bobby Cash and Jasbir Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Ali said that he was witnessing such an exhibition for the first time, adding that he had never seen such a large collection of Quran. He said the exhibition will spread the message of unity.
Industrialist S Farooq welcomed the guests and said that the Quran gives a message of peace and brotherhood. He explained that the exhibition opens the doors of calligraphic art for all. “After my father’s death his belongings were collected and I wrote his biography after 20 years and since then this collection is increasing with the help of family and friends,” he said.
The exhibition had on display handwritten Aayats of the Quran on first Quran composed by Hazrat Othaman Ghani, third Khalifa of prophet Mohammed which has 1,087 pages and weighs about 80 kilogrammes. Seven coloured Quran printed in Ludhiana in 1907 finds a prominent place in the exhibition. The exhibition also has translations of the Quran in 73 languages of the world. A copy written in Braille and sign language is also on display along with these translations. The Quranic text is also on display in a very compressed style, titled ‘Locket and Pocket Quran’.
There are copies of the Quran ranging in weight from 1.75 grammes to 2,500 kilogrammes, Quran with a talking pen, with fragrance, on chocolate/glass/stones and other material, the event organisers informed.
