Expedite Jamrani & Song dam projects: CM Dhami

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the State administration to expedite the works of the Jamrani dam multipurpose project and Song dam drinking water project. Chairing a meeting with the senior officers at his residence on Friday, the CM said that the works to be done under the projects should be taken forward in a phased manner. The Jamrani dam project is expected to be completed before June 2029. In the meeting the CM directed the officials to complete this project before December 2028. He also directed that the Song dam project should be completed before the stipulated period of March 2030.
Under the Jamarani dam project a 150.6 meter high dam is to be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 3,808 crore. A total of 117 MLD drinking water will be made available to Haldwani city from the project. A nine km long lake will be built in this project which will be developed as a new tourist destination. The project will create an additional irrigation capacity of approximately 57 thousand hectares.
Under the Song dam project a 130.60 meter high dam will be constructed on Song river at an approximate cost of Rs 2,492 crore.
The project will provide 150 MLD gravity drinking water supply in Dehradun city and suburban areas by the year.
Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, secretary SN Pandey, Jugal Kishore Pant, additional director general of Police AP Anshuman, additional secretary Banshidhar Tiwari and others attended the meeting.
