Explosion in illegal fireworks factory injures two

Two persons sustained serious injuries following an explosion in the godown of an illegal fireworks factory in Dhanpura village in Pathri area of Haridwar on Monday. According to official sources, a large quantity of explosive material was also found at the site.
According to sources, an illegal fireworks factory was being run in a godown behind a home in Dhanpura village. It is being reported that a container exploded when old boxes were being sold for scrap. The two persons who were injured in the explosion have been identified as Alam and Dilshad. Both were admitted in a private hospital for treatment. A youth was taken into custody for questioning by the police. Further, 41 sacks of explosive material and items used to make fireworks.
The forensics team and bomb disposal squad personnel also reached the site. The explosive material was seized and sealed by the police. Superintendent of police (Rural) Shekhar Suyal informed that explosive material had been seized from a godown behind a home in Dhanpura. The police are investigating various aspects including the source of the explosive material in considerable quantities.
