Factionalism in Congress shameful, will ensure repeat of electoral win for BJP: Agrawal

With factionalism escalating in the Congress, former cabinet minister in past Congress governments and currently a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Dinesh Agrawal said that the manner in which some Congress leaders are busy trying to settle scores with each other points towards a repeat of the Vidhan Sabha election results witnessed in 2017 and 2022. He said that while the State government under chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is carrying out development works on the ground, the Congress is completely disconnected from the ground.

Interacting with the media here on Thursday, Agrawal said that the factionalism in Congress and the tendency of its leaders to denigrate their colleagues is shameful. “In a political party vying to take over the reins of development in the State, the handful of remaining senior leaders are openly exchanging allegations and counter-allegations. The people of Uttarakhand are witnessing this and similar experiences had made the voters completely reject the Congress in the 2017 and 2022 elections,” he said. The difference between the political work culture and dedication towards ideology of the BJP and the Congress is incomparable. Agrawal further claimed that the BJP governments at the Centre and in the State are consistently executing development works. He opined that while the nation is developing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Uttarakhand is progressing similarly under chief minister Dhami’s leadership. Apart from this, the BJP organisation is making its presence felt in the households through various programmes and the activities of its workers.

Taking a dig at the Congress, the senior leader said that the party’s central and State leadership is not in the mood to learn a lesson despite repeated electoral defeats since 2014. “They seem to think that the public will stand with them on the basis of statements made by four people. Congress leaders manage to organise a programme with difficulty but still live in delusion. On the other hand, the BJP continues to move forward by regularly holding organisational and public programmes,”he added.
