Fadnavis to take oath, PM will attend

Ending the two-week-long suspense and speculations, the BJP legislature party leader Devendra Fadnavis is all set to be sworn-in as the new chief minister of Maharashtra on Thursday evening. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with a battery of Union ministers and chief ministers will attend the swearing–in to be held at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai. Signalling that the coalition distemper over who would be the CM is over, NCP head Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde are set to take oath as deputy chief ministers. Importantly, with the swearing-in, Fadnavis (54), an MLA from Nagpur, will be the CM of the State for the third time.
While the BJP secured 132 seats in the 288-member House it commands a majority of 230 seats together with its allies Shiv Sena and NCP.
