A family from Uttarkashi said that they have sought help from the Central government and the district administration to ensure the return of their family member Indramani Nautiyal to India from Saudi Arabia. Notably, Indramani is not being allowed to return by the company he worked for and all efforts to facilitate his return to India have proved futile.
He went to Saudi Arabia for employment in 2018 and worked as a truck driver in a company. In 2018, he was involved in an accident where the truck he was driving collided with a car, resulting in the death of three people. Nautiyal was sentenced because the truck was not insured. After serving a sentence of about 10 months, he was released. But the company has not allowed him to return to India while keeping his passport back. His absence for the past seven years has landed them in a grim financial crisis aside from perpetuating their anxiety for his well-being, the family members said.
They are hopeful that the Centre will step in and end their impatient and tortured wait for his safe return.
They added that they have also reached out to others for support and have contacted several channels, including the CM Helpline. Besides, they sent an appeal to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but to no avail.
