Food Corporation of India (FCI) stated in a statement released on Tuesday that it had changed the limit of quantity of wheat for bidders under OMSS(D) from December 15 onwards. Limit of bidding quantity has been linked with the type of electric connection (LT/HT) of the processing unit/ mills of bidders.
Notably, FCI Uttarakhand offered 11,000 MT of wheat with a base price of Rs 2,125/Quintal for Under Relaxed Specifications (URS) and Rs 2,150/Quintal for Fair and Average Quality (FAQ) from 12 locations for sale under 26th auction and also 10,000 MT of rice with a base price of 2,900/Quintal from two locations for sale under 22nd auction of food grains that started from December 15 under OMSS (D) scheme.
The statement further stated that the processing unit with LT power connection can bid for a quantity of 10MT up to 50MT per auction while the processing unit with HT connection can bid for a maximum of 250Mt per auction. FCI claimed that the main objective of the auction is to ensure that the rising prices of food grains are controlled immediately and added that traders could also participate in E-Auction of rice for a maximum quantity of 2000 MT per bidder.
