The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a notice to the in-charge of the Anchal Dairy plant located in the Raipur area of Dehradun after finding substandard sanitation conditions in the plant on Tuesday.
The district food safety officer PC Joshi informed that an FDA team reached for an inspection at the plant in Dehradun Cooperative Dairy Federation in Raipur where several milk products of about 10,000 litres of milk of Aanchal brand are prepared and packed on a daily basis. He said that the plant has also been preparing fortified flavoured skimmed milk powder under Mukhyamantri Anchal Amrit Yojana in which milk is fortified by adding vitamins A and D which is sent to schools to provide additional nutritional supply to children.
The team collected five samples of these dairy products and sent them to Rudrapur’s lab, said Joshi. He said that the FDA team found during the inspection that the plant management has not maintained proper sanitation standards for the processing of milk products there considering which, the in-charge was issued a notice under section 32 of Food Safety Standards to meet the required sanitation standards within the stipulated time. If the management fails to do so, action would be taken under the relevant acts, said Joshi. He also said that the FDA will soon take action after receiving lab reports from Rudrapur. He said that the FDA and district food safety department will continue to conduct such more surprise inspections across the district to check adulteration in food products and ensure sanitation standards are being followed as per the rules.
